Following the Evidence
Emily looked around the room, David was right; no one could survive losing that much blood. "We don't know if it's Isabella's blood" she stated
"However, the odds are it is which means we'll now looking for a corpse" Murphy replied
"NO we're looking for Isabella Michelle Sanchez; she loves Harry Potter and Hannah Montana. She is an amazing soccer player and is really into astronomy. She also has a family who loves her, miss her and want her to come home. And we are not going back to the Sanchez family until we have turned over every rock to find their eleven year child alive. Got me" Emily stated
"You are being such a chick" Murphy said
"No, I'm being such a human being, you might want to try it sometime" Emily said, she would have said more but they were interrupted by Frank, Matt and Ryan Johnson joining them.
"Whoa, that's a lot of blood." Frank said once everyone had a chance to see the room
"Not you too. Yes it is a lot of blood but that does not mean it is Isabella's blood." Emily said in a frustrated tone.
"I didn't say it was Isabella's blood, I just said it was a lot of blood" Frank replied
"Right sorry didn't mean to bite your head off" Emily said
"Well" Ryan muttered
"Well what?" Emily asked
"It is only logical to assume that it is Isabella's blood. After all we were only led here because of a tip. What are the odds that we've stumble onto a crime scene in the exact location that the tip caller put Isabella in and it has nothing to do with our case?" Ryan said
Ryan was probably right; Emily knew that everything he said made total sense. However, there was something about the whole thing that she just couldn't put her finger on; she just had a gut feeling that something was not right. "It’s too simple" Emily stated before turning to leave the room.
"Where are you going?" Matt questioned
"To call CSU, either way this is a crime scene and it needs to be process" Emily answered
Close to five hours later, the scene had been process and everyone was back at the office waiting for CSU to analyze the evidence collected. Emily was pouring up a cup of coffee when Matt poked his head around the corner of the CNU kitchen "Hey Em, Abby from the crime lab is ready to give us a summary of the evidence collected, everyone is in conference room two" he said
"Coming" Emily replied grabbing her coffee and following Matt to the conference room.
Once everyone was settle Abby spoke "Ok so I have some bad news and some good news. The blood found at the crime scene was a positive match to Isabella Sanchez" Emily's heart sunk, she looked over at Ryan and David, they both had a cocky 'I told you' so expression on their faces.
"What’s the good news?" Emily asked
"The blood was planted, I guess to make it seem like she was dead." Abby replied
"How do you know that?" Matt asked
"Human blood doesn't clot like this naturally" Abby replied showing everyone a crime scene photo. "I ran some tests and found that the blood was laced with an additive, the type used when you store blood like in hospitals, so I would conclude that Isabella didn't lose this blood all at once but it was being taking from her over an extended period of time"
"That means..." Frank said
"Whoever told Isabella..." Matt continued Frank's sentence
"Knew her" Emily said finishing Frank's and Matt's statements. "And she could still be alive"
"There is more." Abby said "the DNA found on the chains is also a match to Isabella, she was definitely in that room, and chained to the bed. Here are the rest of the photos I took" Abby said spreading the pictures on the table. Emily's attention was caught by one specific picture. She picked it up, "Would you say this was a china doll?" she asked
"I don't know, Em. I'm not exactly a doll expert" Matt replied
"Yeah the doll is some type of collector doll" Abby said
Emily got up from where she was sitting and walked out of the room. "Where is she going?" David asked
Matt, Frank, and Duff never stuck around to answer the question. They knew that Emily had something. So they followed her to the R-Sims room. "Hey Lia, could you pull up the interview with Mrs. Sanchez? Please" Emily asked
"Sure. Do you want to see the entire video or a specific part?" Lia asked
"The part where she started crying and rumbling on about Isabella" Emily answered
"No problem" Lia replied "what are you looking for?" Lia asked while pressing play. Mrs. Sanchez's voice came thought the speakers. "My poor little girl. She's only eleven. Izzie loves Harry Potter and Hannah Montana. She plays soccer, and is in love with the stars."
"Mrs. Sanchez please" came David’s voice
"Isabella loves this doll. It's a china doll; her grandmother gave it to her for Christmas. She calls it Gracie Face; she loves her and carries her everywhere. But today I told her she couldn't take her outside, afraid she break her. She can't sleep without her and now she's out there somewhere without Gracie. And it is my fault."
"Mrs. Sanchez can we please stay on topic" came Ryan's voice.
"Stop it" Emily said "I knew it"
"Knew what?" Matt asked "Emily, not all of us, has your brain; you're going to have to give us a bit more of an explanation."
"The china doll is downstairs in the evidence locker. The same doll that was in a room that Isabella was held. Mrs. Sanchez just said that the doll wasn't outside with Isabella which means it had to be inside the house." Emily replied
Matt, Frank, Duff, Ryan, David, and Abby were still giving her a strange look. "What kidnapper grabs the kid but before leaving runs though the house to get her doll? Not only that, Mrs. Sanchez said she was in the garden with the kids when Isabella was taken. Explain to me, how the kidnapper gets pass the mother and into the house, grabs the doll and Isabella without nobody noticing." Emily stated
"Meaning Mrs. Sanchez lied about her whereabouts when Isabella was taken" Matt said
"I wonder what else she's lying about" Frank said
"Well, let’s go find out" Duff replied
