Chapter Four:

Dress Shopping

"What about this one?" Lia asked holding up a dress so Emily and Lucy could see it.

    "It’s pink" Emily said

"It’s a causal evening dress" Lucy said "I think it would look good on you"

"But its pink" Emily said again

"Emily, I love you but we have been shopping for dresses for over two hours, you have tried on twenty different dresses and they all looked beautiful on you, yet you have found something wrong with everyone. Just pick one" Lia said

"She's right with your figure you really don't need to be this particular, everything looks good on you" Lucy replied

"Arg. I can't believe the first Saturday I've had off in weeks and instead of being at the baseball game with Matt and Frank I'm here shopping for a dress that I don't want to wear to a meal that I don't want to go to" Emily said

"Stop complaining and try on the pink dress" Lucy ordered her

"Fine" Emily said taking the dress and headed for the dressing room. "Why don't we just go though my closet again" she replied as she tried the dress on.

"NO!" both Lucy and Lia said at the same time

"We've been though your sad excurse for a closet three times and I'm sorry to break the news to you but all five dresses that you own are not suitable for dinner at La Champion." Lia said

"Fine. What do you think?" Emily asked coming out of the dressing room with the dress on.

"That dress looks so good on you" Lucy said

"It's perfect for you" Lia replied

"But its pink" Emily said looking in the mirror and made a face of disgust "let's keep looking"

"Arg" both Lia and Lucy sighed

"Ok Ok I get it, you two are getting annoyed with me. Tell you what, the next dress you tell me to try on I will buy as long as it’s not pink then lunch on me. Deal?" Emily said

"Deal. Go change while I find a dress for you" Lucy said

The three girls ended up going to three more stores before finding another dress that they liked for Emily to try on. "What about this one?" Lucy asked holding up a camouflage green spaghetti strip dress.

"I actually like it" Emily said as she took the dress to go try it on.

"So what do you think?" She asked once she had it on

"Wow that's the dress" Lia said

    "I agree" Lucy said

"Me too" Emily said. She couldn't help but giggle at the look of relief that came over her friends' faces. Emily bought the dress and the ladies headed to the food court for lunch.

"Can I ask you something" Lia asked once they had their food and were sat down to a table.

"Sure after this morning I think you are entitled" Emily said

"What's the deal with you and your parents?" Lia questioned

"And don't give us any of that it's hard to explain crap" Lucy said

'Ok I'll give you the cliff note version.  My parents are old fashion, all they ever wanted from me was to get married and have children. But I took a different path, I chose not only to have a career but I chose a career that in their eyes is a man's job.  However, there is so much more then just my job, there is so much baggage between us, I think me joining the FBI was just the tip of the ice berg. Just accept that explanation for now, I'll tell you guys more someday but I should probably have this discussion with Matt first." Emily replied.

"Ok" Lia said "so you have the dress now you need a pair of shoes to match"

Emily and Lucy looked at her and let out a sigh, it was going to be a long day.
