Chapter Eleven:

Visiting Ally

Emily stared at the TV not really paying attention to what was on the screen. Matt had picked her up at the 4 seasons within ten minutes of her calling him. Emily was in no mood to go back to work so Matt called Cheryl with a lame excused that Emily wasn't feeling well and he didn't want to leave her so neither would be back to work that evening. Emily figured Cheryl didn't believe Matt, it looked like they were skipping work to be with each other which they had done in the past but at that particular moment Emily did not care.

"here drink this" Matt said walking into the living room and passed Emily a glass of rum.

"liquor really, what if Cheryl calls us in?" Emily asked but she took the drink anyhow

"She won't and I figured you needed something stronger than a glass of wine" Matt said

"Yeah I guess my little meltdown back there said it all" Emily said, her cheeks turning red at the thought of letting Matt see her in such a vulnerable state.

Matt just smiled "anything good on the old tube?" he asked as he sat down next to her

"You're not going to ask what happened with my parents or why I called you in tears?" She asked downing the drink Matt had passed her.

"Nope" Matt answered "You'll tell me when you're ready and I'll be here whenever that is" He said giving her hand a comfort squeeze,

"Actually I'm ready now. It's simple really, my father is a jackass, I really hope Karma comes back and bites him in the ass." Emily said

Matt nodded he wanted to just let her talk, sometimes it was best just to listen. "I decided to let them back into my life and my father said that all three of us girls are a disgrace to the Lehman name and he wanted nothing to do with us, it's just because it's my mother's dying wish that he agreed to have dinner with Jenny and me. But I think my mom and I are going to try and have some sort of relationship, I mean I can't just forgive her and I told her that, there is just to much water under the bridge and I can't go back over it for fear that I'll drown, I know that's a really bad metaphor but anyhow I just let my dad get to me and I don't know why, it's not the first time he's been a dick" Emily ranted only stopping to take a breathe

"What does this all mean?" Matt asked

"I don't know, I refuse to have anything to do with my dad but I just can't turn my back on my mom. I mean after all she's my mom. Oh god" Emily said

    "What?" Matt asked alarmed

"I told my mom to let me handle Ally. I have to go visit her" Emily replied "I'm going to need something stronger than rum to do that"

    Matt smiled "Really like what?"

"Like you, Please say you'll come with me. Truthfully, I don't think I can handle going by myself" She admitted. Screw being tough, she thought to herself.

"You know I will" Matt replied kissing her on the forehead.

"Hannah, listen to me shooting your biological parents is not the answer" Emily said into the telephone. It was the next day, Emily and Matt had got into work long enough to listen to Cheryl lecture them about leaving without letting anyone know when they got the call, Hannah-Lynn English age 20 had taken Nancy and Kevin Campbell hostage in their home in Beverly Hills. Emily took primary and Matt had been trying to figure out why Hannah-Lynn had took two people hostage; at the time it look like it was a random target until Lia had came across an adoption record, as it turned out Hannah-Lynn had been put out for adoption by the Campbell's twenty years ago and Hannah had been dealt a bad hand; ending up with adopted parents who were completely broke and a father who turned into a alcoholic. Hannah had been okay with things until she had started to look for her biological parents a few months back when she found out that her biological parents were none other than the Campbell's, millionaires, she started to blame the Campbell's for her crappy life and now she was there to even the score.

"Oh yes it is. I grew up in a one bedroom apartment, we barely had enough money for food because my dad boozed it all and they live in a seven bedroom mansion, how fair is that?" Hannah yelled into the phone

"I'm sure at the time they thought they were doing the best thing for you by giving you up" Emily reasoned

"Don't make it sound like they gave me up so I could have a better life, don't make them sound noble. You want to know why I was put out for adoption, not because Nancy was too young to take care of me, or because she was a single mother and just couldn't take care of me or any other good reason. It was because she had an affair and gotten pregnant and he didn't want the reminder, they didn't even bother to find suitable adopted parents. " Hannah shrieked before hanging up the phone

Emily turned the chair she was sat in to face Matt, Cheryl and Frank "she's extremely agitated, she's going to shoot them, she blames the Campbell's for ever thing that went wrong in her life" she said

"Her crappy childhood, dropping out of collage, and her latest drug charge" Matt said

"This is her third strike, she has nothing to loose. Guys I'm leading towards a bench" Cheryl said

"Emily can get her out, give us five more minutes" Matt said "Remember common ground"

Emily nodded as she dialed back into the house. "What now?" Hannah said into the phone

"Ok fine Hannah, you have a right to be angry, maybe Nancy and Kevin aren't great people or great parents but they don't deserve to die." Emily said

"Well Emily, please tell me what they deserve" Hannah replied

"You know what, I don't know what they deserve but I know that you deserve to walk out of this. Forget them, stop blaming your family for your problems. A lot of people have crappy childhoods but they come out on the other side Okay." Emily protested

"Yeah I bet miss FBI agent had a horrible childhood, I bet your parents had money and you grew up in a loving home" Hannah said

"Money does not grantee happiness and my home was far from loving but I turned my life around and so can you. I get that you feel abandoned, I felt the same way most of my life but killing Kevin and Nancy is not going to make it go away, it will only make it worse taking someone's life stays with you, it never goes away, so are you going to turn your life around?" Emily said as she bit her lip.

The line went dead, she wasn't sure if Hannah was going to release them or if this was going to turn into a murder suicide when she saw the Campbell's walking out the front door with Hannah-Lynn right behind them on the camera they had on the front door. She dropped the gun and Frank took her into custody.

"Hey, are you alright?" Cheryl asked Emily, it seemed to her that this particular HT seemed to hit a nerve with her negotiator.

    "Yeah I'm fine" Emily replied

"Well, you and Matt are free to go" Cheryl told her

"Thanks." Emily walked over to where Matt was gathering up some equipment "Matt we're free to go"

"You still want to go see Allison today after that negotiatwion?" He asked

"Yeah if I don't do it now, I'll chicken out" She replied

    "Let's go" Matt said.

Emily took her seat in the prison's visiting area across from Allison. Emily had wanted to have this discussion with Ally without a glass in between them.

"So what's going on sis, I doubt you came up here for a friendly visit" Allison said to her sister

Emily took a deep breathe "our parents are in town" she said

"Really I don't have any parents. They died when I was 14" Ally replied

"OK I know we all have our issues with them but you have to hear me out" Emily said

"No, I don't. Issues, is that what you call it. Well I think I have more than issues with them. Look you want to work on our relationship that's what you say in your letters well bringing them up is not helping our relationship." Ally replied

    "But" Emily said

"NO I don't want to know anything about them, where they're to or why they're here. It's funny I didn't think you had any contact with them." Ally replied

"OK don't go feeling all betrayed on me, I didn't have any contact with them for the past sixteen years besides a phone call on Christmas but I got sucked into a dinner where I found out that mom has terminal cancer, Ally she's dying." Emily stated

"Justice at last" Allison said with a smirk on her face.
